Fishing on Honolulu Creek 2005

In 2005, Honolulu Creek was running much higher than the previous year.  This made the fishing and the wading a bit tougher.

Woody hooked this King and admirably battled the beast up to the bank at which point the tippet gave way.  He was disappointed, but I thought he did a great job.

Neva's first King These King Salmon do not have the endurance they might have nearer the ocean, but a 25 LBS fish is still a handful on a Fly Rod.

Though Neva has caught King Salmon on conventional gear, this was her first on a Fly Rod.  This fish actually ran her pretty hard.  She did a great job!

During the long days of Summer one can get pretty worn out fishing virtually all night long.

My Kids thought it hilarious that I would take a nap in my waders.

Honolulu Creek Rainbow Honolulu Creek is one of the few locations that I have found solitude along the Parks Highway.  We rarely see any other fishermen on the stream.

This is a typical Rainbow that Chris caught at the confluence of Honolulu Creek with the Chulitna River.
